Requires a Commercial Activity License plus Business Income and Receipts Tax registration.
Visit business.phila.gov — look for "Business License," "Business Tax Certificate," or "Business Registration."
Most cities now have online applications. Some still use paper forms you mail or drop off.
You'll need: your business name, address, what you do, your SSN or EIN, and sometimes estimated annual revenue.
Typical cost in Philadelphia: $300 (CAL) + BIRT. Pay online or by check.
Usually takes 5–15 days. Physical businesses post their license where customers can see it.
